Atletico Mineiro managed to keep a clean sheet at Palmeiras in the first leg and the scoreless away draw means they will return to the Copa Libertadores’ final in the event of winning at home. Last Saturday, they also drew 0-0 at Sao Paulo to hold onto the first spot of the Brazilian league table on 46 points, eight above Tuesday’s opponents. O Galo have been unbeaten in their last 12 competitive matches, with eight wins and four stalemates in that time. At home, they haven’t lost any of the last 13 (11 successes in regular time and two draws).
Defending champions Palmeiras also have the big chance of advancing to the final after the 0-0 home draw last Tuesday: they will go forward in the competition through a win or a draw with goals. Last Saturday, O Verdao were beaten by Corinthians 2-1 away, which means they remain in second spot of the league table, now trailing Atletico Mineiro by eight points. Palmeiras won only one of their last four games in all competitions (drawing one and losing two) and managed five points across their last five away matches (one win, two stalemates and two defeats).
Atletico is definitely the best team here, they should have won last week but they missed a penalty, and I expect them to advance at home.
