Chelsea vs Newcastle Utd
I am betting Chelsea here -1.25, Chelsea have had a dramatic week with UK sanctions brought against their owner Roamn Abramovic, they were ordinary enough against Norwich but covered the handicap and at home v Newcastle I expect the crowd to lift them as it will be one of the last full houses they face. Newcastle have a number of injuries, Kieran Trippier is out while it looks like Alan Saint-Maximin and Joel Linton look like they will all be out of the match tomorrow and that is a massive blow for the magpies and i make Chelsea a value bet here on the -1.25.
Chelsea -1.25 min odds 1.80
Everton vs Wolves
Everton are just so poor, it’s not to say Wolves are miles better but Everton showed against Spurs on Monday night when they were beaten 5-0 how poor they actually are and given how they were set up against Tottenham you would have to have concerns about their coach Frank Lampard. Wolves beat Watford 4- but they were helped by hapless Watford, however if Lampard set Everton up overly offensively Wolves will be able to counter and they are a much better team playing this way and the fact they are getting a positive handicap I have to bet them and I make them value.
Wolves +0.25 min odds 1.87
Leeds Utd vs Norwich City
I am betting Norwich City +1, I simply can’t have Leeds +1 against anybody at the moment, they have looked dreadful in all games bar Leicester City and are still without key midfielder Kalvin Phillips while Patrick Bamford only came back towards the end of their match v Aston Villa on Thursday night, Leeds have not scored in 6 of their last 8 games and now they are -1 here, I can’t have that. Their opponents Norwich performed ok in their last match when they were beaten 3-1 by Chelsea, they could have got a point from the match and pressed hard towards the end before being caught out by a late goal. If Norwich manage to score it should be a case that this bet could be difficult to get beat given how poor Leeds have been in front of goal of late and I make Norwich +1 clear value and a bet.
Norwich City +1 in odds 1.82
Arsenal vs Leicester City
I am betting Arsenal here -1 and over 3 goals to be scored as well, Leicester looked poor against Leeds last weekend, it was the first time Leeds were the better team in a match in months and maybe that speaks volumes for Leicester at the moment as they were very fortunate to win. In addition, Leicester played a midweek match in the European Conference too and will travel to Arsenal without key striker Jamie Vardy so these are added negatives for the away team. Arsenal have been busy improving of late winning their last 4 matches in the premier league, they are a young side but they’re a good young side and they should have a near full strength team for this match. I think Leicester will really struggle today and I think it could be a long day for the Foxes so betting Arsenal -1 and over 3 goals scored, Leicester’s games have averaged 3.32 goals per match this season even with Fofana back from a long-term injury they should be too open and it makes sense to be Arsenal and overs here.
Arsenal -1 min odds 1.82
Over 3 goals scored min odds 2.01
Lanus vs Colon
Lanus wasted a 2-0 lead last Monday and eventually had to settle for a 2-2 draw away at Sarandi Arsenal in an entertaining game. Therefore, El Granate continue producing an irregular campaign in the Copa Liga Profesional, having collected five points in as many games under coach Jorge Almiron so far (and having not won any of the last three in the league, including two draws and one loss). At home, Lanus are unbeaten in their last eight domestic matches, but they won only two and drew six of those.
Colon played their worst game of the season last Monday and ended up losing 1-0 away at newcomers Tigre. It was their first defeat in this competition after three victories and one draw and that’s why Julio Falcioni’s men remain occupying the second place in group B on ten points, three behind leaders Estudiantes. El Sabalero managed a single victory across their last five league matches on the road (at CA Central Cordoba 2-0 in February), drawing two and losing two in that span.
Two teams with powerful attacks, they’ve been underperforming lately but I still expect goals with strikers like Jose Sand, Juan Lopez and Luis Rodriguez on the pitch.
BET: OVER 2.5 @ 2.05
River vs Gimnasia
River Plate made it four league games unbeaten (three victories and one draw) last weekend, when they beat San Lorenzo 1-0 away from home thanks to a header from Paulo Diaz. Marcelo Gallardo’s men climbed into the top of the group A table (alongside Defensa y Justicia, Union Santa Fe and Sarmiento) on ten points as a result of that success. Furthermore, El Millonario claimed ten victories across their last 14 home matches in league action, drawing three and losing only one in that spell.
Gimnasia LP are now on three league games without a win (taking a single point in that time) following their 2-2 home draw against Argentinos Juniors in a thrilling game last time out. Nestor Gorosito’s men earned just five points in as many matches in the Copa Liga Profesional, having won only once so, which places them out of the fight for a ticket to the playoffs at the moment. Furthermore, El Lobo are on five away matches without a win, having drawn two and lost three since beating San Lorenzo 1-0 in November. Key player Brahian Aleman saw his fifth yellow card against Argentinos Juniors and is suspended.
This has to be a win for River, especially with Gimnasia missing their playmaker and key piece of their midfield, Brahian Aleman.
BET: River -1.5 @ 1.97
Estudiantes vs Boca
Even though coach Ricardo Zielinski fielded a mostly alternative XI, Estudiantes still had enough to secure a 1-1 away draw at Velez Sarsfield. The team remain unbeaten in the Copa Liga Profesional and continue at the top of the group B table, having earned 13 points from 15 on offer so far. Furthermore, El Pincha have been perfect at home in this competition, beating Independiente, Lanus and Sarandi Arsenal. On Wednesday 9, Estudiantes won 1-0 away at Chile’s Everton SADP in the first leg of the third Copa Libertadores’ third qualifying round.
Boca Juniors succumbed to their first defeat in the Copa Liga Profesional last Sunday, when they lost to Huracan 1-0 at home playing their worst game of the season. In fact, El Xeneize stopped their seven-match unbeaten streak of three victories and four stalemates in league action. The team remain on eight points in five games in this competition, which places them out of the qualifying spots in group B. Playing away Boca managed four points from six on offer this season, beating Aldosivi and drawing to Independiente so far. Striker Dario Benedetto succumbed to a muscle problem shortly before the last game and will miss out, as well as Oscar Romero due to a similar injury.
Even if Estudiantes might rotate some players due to their Libertadores commitments, they are still more solid and confident than this struggling Boca that will miss some key players in attack.
