West Ham vs Newcastle Utd

I am betting under 2.75 goals here, Newcastle have defended very well of late and they face a West Ham side who have really struggled in games, they had to rely on a late goal to bring Kidderminster to extra time in the cup and even then, only went on to win the game with a goal at the end of extra time. I thought they were poor against Leicester last weekend and were lucky to beat Watford 1-0 with the aid of a deflected goal in their last match at home. Newcastle is at a stage of the season now where a point away from home would be a very good result and they may be more conservative in their approach today and with West Ham not looking the side they were earlier in the season i think Newcastle will keep it close today so betting under 2.75 goals.

Under 2.75 goals scored min odds 1.80

Crystal Palace vs Chelsea

I am betting Chelsea here -0.75, key Palace player Conor Gallagher is unable to play because he is on loan from his parent club Chelsea, Palace have not won a game since a 3-0 win at home to Norwich City on the 28th of December. Chelsea are fresh from victory in the winning the club world cup in Abu Dhabi last week and I would be hopeful that they will come back with renewed rigour as it felt they had gone slightly stale prior before heading off. I am also betting over 2.25 goals to be scored here, Palace have seen their last 6 games go over 2.5 goals so i think there is some clear value in the over 2.25 goals bet, so betting Chelsea -0.75 and over 2.25 goals to be scored.

Chelsea -0.75 min odds 1.88
Over 2.25 Goals scored min odds 1.83

Southampton vs Everton

I am betting Southampton here and over 2.5 goals to be scored, Everton were super impressive last weekend at home to Leeds but they had a large backing of a ferocious home crowd and against a Leeds side who simply never turned up. The Merseyside blues will face a much tougher team in Southampton who have been excellent of late after beating Spurs away from home 3-2 they drew away to Manchester United 1-1 gaining a deserving a point. Southampton pretty much have a full side here but Everton are still missing a number of starters and while Everton were impressive last weekend the fact is they will have to play a reserve right full at left full and the fact the Leeds performance was just one match I think it is ok to have concerns about them until they start backing up that performance. In regard to the overs bet both sides will fancy their chances today, both side’s games average will over 2.25 goals with the Saints average at 2.79 and Everton at 3 goals both sides are better going forward than defending so i think we should see goals, so happy to bet Southampton -0.25 and over 2.5 goals.

Southampton -0.25 min odds 1.85
Over 2.5 Goals scored min odds 1.87

Aston Villa vs Watford

I am betting under 2.5 goals here, I think Watford will sit deep and try and take a point or snatch something on the break. Watford’s coach Roy Hodgson is well known for a defensive approach and he will fancy his chances of scoring with Sarr and Denis in his team but it will be a case of trying not lose first and hope to catch Villa on the break or counter. Since coming in Hodgson has seen his 3 games in charge feature only 3 goals in total, he won’t panic at this stage of the season and away from home a point would be a good return today, so betting under 2.5 goals in a match that may play tighter than many expect it to.

Under 2.5 goals scored min odds 1.82

Brighton vs Burnley

I am betting under 2.25 goals here, Burnley will come and try and take a point from this contest or snatch something from a set piece, both sides are very underish sides Brighton’s matches are only averaging 2.08 goals per game while Burnley are not much higher at 2.19 goals so happy to bet under 2.25 goals to be scored here as a result.

Under 2.25 Goals scored min odds 1.92

Liverpool vs Norwich City

I think Norwich will go here today and look to keep the score down, I think they won’t have any interest in doing anything else, goal difference could come into play at the end of the season in their bid to avoid relegation, so they will want to avoid a hammering at all costs, don’t expect them to chase the game at any stage. Liverpool could rotate their squad which will be a boost for the under bet as they have a busy few weeks coming up but still should win this game to nil and Under 3.5 goals is a bet for me.

Under 3.5 goals scored min odds 1.94

Fulham vs Huddersfield Town

I am betting Huddersfield Town +1.5 and under 3 goals, they have not lost in their last 14 matches and i believe they can go to high flying Fulham and take a point or at least frustrate Fulham, I have Fulham rated very high in my own personal ratings but when i can bet against them i think I am very comfortable doing so. Team news is fine and while it may be a risky bet i do think there is value opposing Fulham on this big of handicap.

Huddersfield Town +1.5 min odds 1.97
Under 3 Goals scored min odds 1.84

Luton Town vs West Bromich Albion

I am betting Luton +0.25 against a out of sort West Brom side who have only won 1 in their last 10 games and are now -0.25 favourites away to a solid Luton side. Luton were well beaten last weekend but they have a habit of bouncing back after a poor result and are a tough side with ambitions to get a playoff spot and with Jake Livermore still suspended for West Brom I think +0.25 is worth a bet on the home side.

Luton Town +0.25 min odds 1.86

Estudiantes vs Lanus

Estudiantes keep their standards up. After an excellent performance last season (which qualified them for the Copa Libertadores), the team have now taken all six points in the first two rounds after their 3-2 away success at Huracan last Tuesday to become the only leaders in group B. In fact, El Pincha won five and drew three of their last nine league matches, losing only once in that stretch.

Lanus showed great improvements last time out to take their first three points in the Copa Liga Profesional following a 2-0 home success over Barracas Central. It was the first success in Jorge Almiron’s second spell at the club and also stopped the team’s seven-match winless streak of three stalemates and four losses in the league. On away turf, Lanus have lost their last four matches since beating Argentinos Juniors 1-0 in October.

With club legend Mauro Boselli back, Estudiantes has become much better in attack, as shown by the 5 goals they’ve scored in the first 2 rounds. Lanus is always a threat in attack as well, so I have to expect goals here.

BET: OVER 2.25 @ 1.89

Velez vs Independiente

Last Tuesday, Velez Sarsfield succumbed to an unlucky 1-0 away defeat to Rosario Central in a hard-fought game. That’s why Mauricio Pellegrino’s men remain on three points after the first two games in this tournament. El Fortin managed a single victory in their last five league matches, having drawn one and lost three in that spell, but they also are on 11 home matches unbeaten, registering eight victories and three draws in that spell.

Independiente secured their first three points in the Copa Liga Profesional last Tuesday, when they managed to beat Sarandi Arsenal 1-0 at home thanks to Tomas Pozzo’s first goal as a professional footballer. The team also made it two wins and one draw across the last four league games, along with a single defeat in that spell. On a sorry note, El Rojo lost five of their last seven domestic matches on away turf, winning one and drawing one.

Independiente had to work too hard to beat a very poor Arsenal midweek, so even though Velez are not in their best form I expect them to get the 3 points at home.

BET: Velez -0.25 @ 1.91
