Cardiff City vs Sunderland

I am betting on Cardiff City here on the draw no bet line. Cardiff has recruited well this offseason, signing Chris Wilcox from QPR, Calum Chambers from Aston Villa, Anwar El Ghazi from German club Mainz, Wilfred Khanga from Herta Berlin, who scored 12 goals last season in the Belgian first division when on loan at Standard Liege, and Alex Robertson from Man City. Sunderland was very poor towards the end of last season. They won’t be as bad again, but I am not sure they should be as big as favorites as they are for this game. Away at what will be a new look Cardiff team on the opening day of the season, it will be a tough ask. With key defender Dan Ballard still out for the Black Cats, I think Cardiff are worth a bet here.

Bet: Cardiff City 0
Minimum Odds: 2.10

Middlesbrough vs Swansea City

Boro is rightly favorites here, but I can’t help but have a go at Swansea +0.75. I really like the business Swansea has done over the close season. They have lost defender Nathan Wood to Southampton, but they have brought in striker Zan Vitpotnik from Bordeaux, who was a prolific striker prior to the move to the French club and was in the Slovenian Euro 2024 squad. They also added Portuguese midfielder Goncalo Franco, while exciting winger Ji-Sung Eom comes in from South Korea. I expect Boro to be better this season, but I think +0.75 for a Swansea side that should be a lot better than last season is worth a go.

Bet: Swansea City +0.75
Minimum Odds: 1.96

Oxford Utd vs Norwich City

I am betting on Norwich City here at -0.25. Jonathan Rowe should play today despite speculation over his future, which will be a huge boost if he features. Josh Sargent, who missed a lot of last season, should start up front, while Callum Doyle could replace Shane Duffy, which is an upgrade. Oxford is newly promoted to the Championship this season, but even last season they were going off as +0.75 underdogs away to Portsmouth and Derby. You can see the gulf in class from League 1 to the Championship in how Derby was easily dispatched by Blackburn last night. This is a big ask for Oxford. They have really signed no one of note and, for me, they will be the weakest team in the division. That struggle will start today with the visit of Norwich, who should improve from the change of manager at the club despite losing key man Gabriel Sara. Betting Norwich -0.25 at the current odds.

Bet: Norwich City -0.25
Minimum Odds: 1.94
