### Lanus vs Godoy Cruz

**BET: OVER 2 @ 1.93**

Lanus had to settle for a disappointing 1-1 home stalemate against relegation candidates CA Central Cordoba last weekend. El Granate continues to produce an irregular campaign, accumulating 16 points in the Liga Profesional after winning only one of their last four games (along with one stalemate and two losses). However, Ricardo Zielinski’s men remain in one of the Copa Sudamericana berths in the aggregate table. Lanus remains unbeaten in their last five home matches in domestic action, having won four and drawn one. On Wednesday 21, Lanus won 3-1 against LDU Quito and advanced to the Quarterfinals of Copa Sudamericana. Abel Luciatti will serve his second match suspended after his red card at Deportivo Riestra. Leandro Diaz, Raul Loaiza, and Ramiro Carrera are ready to return.

Godoy Cruz played their best match in the Liga Profesional last Monday when they secured an easy 4-1 home success over newcomers Deportivo Riestra. El Tomba is now holding a three-match winning streak in league action and also made it four victories across the last five in this competition, along with a single defeat. Daniel Oldra’s men accumulated 15 points in 11 rounds and climbed into fourth spot in the aggregate table, missing the Copa Libertadores’ zone just by goal difference. Godoy Cruz won 2-0 at Tigre in their last away game, breaking a five-game winless streak of two draws and three losses on the road.

Lanus has scored and conceded in seven of their last eight games (and in the other one, they conceded twice and couldn’t score). Godoy Cruz is coming off scoring four last week and won’t have their best defender, Pier Barrios, who is injured. So this should be an open game with at least a couple of goals.

### Racing vs Independiente

**BET: OVER 2 @ 1.93**

Racing Club returned to winning ways in league action last time out by beating Newell’s Old Boys 1-0 away from home, thanks to a strike from Roger Martinez in the first half. As a result, La Academia made it 20 points in the Liga Profesional, trailing leaders Huracan by three and holding onto one of the Copa Libertadores’ spots in the aggregate table after losing only one of the last four in this competition (two wins and one draw). That defeat was in their last home game in domestic action (to Gimnasia LP 1-0), which stopped a six-match unbeaten streak of five victories and one draw in the league at Estadio Presidente Peron. On Tuesday 20, Racing beat Chile’s Huachipato FC 6-1 at home in the return leg of the Copa Sudamericana round of 16, advancing to the quarter-finals. Striker Adrian Martinez returns from suspension on Sunday.

Independiente comes to the city derby off a convincing 1-0 home success over Rosario Central thanks to Kevin Lomonaco’s goal in the first half. El Rojo made it three league matches unbeaten, winning two and drawing one without even conceding to accumulate 14 points in the Liga Profesional. As a result, they are now just two points behind the last Copa Sudamericana spot in the aggregate table. Independiente won 2-0 at Estudiantes in their last away commitment, stopping a four-game winless streak of two draws and two losses as the visiting side. Winger Santiago Lopez returns from suspension on Sunday.

This is one of the most important games of the tournament for both as they have one of the biggest rivalries in Argentinian football. Racing has the best attack in the league so far and they are coming off scoring six midweek in Sudamericana. Independiente is finally in good form with consecutive wins, so I expect a goal to open things up here, and I’ll go for the OVER.

### River vs Newell’s

**BET: River -1.25 @ 2.01**

River Plate coach Marcelo Gallardo fielded a completely alternative XI last weekend at Gimnasia LP and his men had a rough afternoon, securing a lucky 1-1 away draw. El Millonario won only one of their last seven Liga Profesional matches, along with four stalemates and two defeats, to make it 16 points. Following that streak, they have been displaced from the Copa Libertadores’ zone in the aggregate table. River remains unbeaten in their last 14 home matches in domestic action, winning eight and drawing six. On Wednesday 21, they won 2-1 against Talleres in the return leg of the Copa Libertadores’ round of 16, advancing to the Quarterfinals. All regulars are available for Sunday, including Marcos Acuna (who has recently arrived from Spain’s Sevilla FC).

Newell’s Old Boys are getting worse game after game. Last time out, the team ended up losing to Racing Club 1-0 at home, with Juan Ignacio Ramirez missing a penalty in the 85th minute. La Lepra is now winless in their last five Liga Profesional matches, drawing two and losing three in that span, and remains on 11 points in as many rounds in this competition. This poor campaign keeps them far away from the fight for a continental ticket in the aggregate table. Newell’s lost four of the last six on away turf, along with a single win and one draw. On Wednesday 21, they were eliminated by CA Central Cordoba in the Copa Argentina round of 16 after losing in a penalty shootout.

Newell’s are arguably one of the worst teams in the league right now. They won only one of the last nine, couldn’t score in the last three, and will probably change coach very soon. The mood for River is perfect with the return of Marcelo Gallardo. World Cup champion Marcos Acuña might debut, and they have a good streak at home, so I expect them to win here without finding much trouble.
