### **Boca – River**
Boca Juniors comes to the Superclásico off a disappointing 2-1 away defeat to Racing Club last Saturday, unable to hold onto their lead. This result ended their nine-match unbeaten streak of four victories and five stalemates in league action. Boca now sits with 21 points in the Liga Profesional, nine points behind table-toppers Velez Sarsfield, and are displaced from the Copa Libertadores zone in the aggregate table.
On a positive note, Boca remains unbeaten in their last 16 domestic matches at home, winning 11 and drawing five. Edinson Cavani and Luis Advíncula are expected to return after overcoming their injuries.
River Plate finally showed their best skills under recently-returned boss Marcelo Gallardo. In their last match, the team produced an enjoyable performance, beating Atletico Tucuman, who were second-placed before the game, 4-1 at home. River made it seven league matches unbeaten, with two wins and five draws, accumulating 21 points in the Liga Profesional, climbing into one of the Copa Libertadores zones in the aggregate rankings. However, River is without a win in six league games on the road, with three stalemates and three losses. On Tuesday, September 17, River drew 1-1 away at CSD Colo Colo in Chile in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals.
River is completely focused on Copa Libertadores, where they have to play the return leg of the Quarterfinals next week. Even though this is the biggest derby in the league and the most important game for both teams, River won’t use their best lineup. Boca is not the most reliable team, but at home, they’ve been quite strong, and with Cavani back in attack, they are a must-bet at these odds.

### **Newell’s – Tigre**
Newell’s Old Boys see their crisis deepening week after week. Last Sunday, the team was dominated from beginning to end and succumbed to a deserved 3-0 away defeat to Argentinos Juniors. La Lepra has gone eight league games without a win, drawing four and losing four, which leaves them with 13 points in the Liga Profesional and forces them to improve to stay away from relegation threats. Newell’s managed just two points from the last 15 available at Estadio Marcelo Bielsa. Consequently, coach Sebastián Méndez left the club, and Ricardo Lunari will take over as interim boss on Saturday.
Tigre showed a deflated version last weekend but secured a valuable 1-1 home draw against Gimnasia LP thanks to a strike from Tomás Galván in the second half. Sebastián Domínguez’s men are performing well in the Liga Profesional, accumulating 17 points after four unbeaten games (two victories and two draws) to hold onto a one-point gap over bottom-placed CA Central Córdoba in the aggregate table. On away turf, Tigre grabbed seven points from the last 12 available, winning two, drawing one, and losing one.
Newell’s is probably one of the worst teams in the league right now. They will miss their goalkeeper Lucas Hoyos and their right back Méndez due to injuries, and they’ll be under an interim coach after some bad results. Tigre looks improved, their confidence is much better after some good results, and they need points to avoid relegation, so expect them to avoid defeat here.

### **Instituto – Barracas Central**
Instituto couldn’t hold onto their lead last time out and succumbed to a surprising 2-1 away defeat to CA Central Cordoba, who were bottom-placed before the game, conceding the winner just five minutes before the final whistle. This result ended their two-match winning streak in league action, leaving them with 24 points in the Liga Profesional, although they still occupy one of the Copa Sudamericana places in the aggregate table. Instituto has been strong at home lately, unbeaten in the last six matches with four wins and two draws.
Barracas Central’s new coach, Ruben Insua, has a mountain to climb at the club. Last Monday, the team lost 1-0 to Banfield, playing as hosts at Deportivo Riestra in his debut, extending El Guapo’s winless streak to 13 league games (five stalemates and eight defeats since the opener, when they beat Godoy Cruz 1-0 away). Therefore, they dropped to the bottom of the Liga Profesional table with eight points. Barracas is on a six-game winless streak away, drawing three and losing three. Goalkeeper Sebastián Moyano remains out injured.
Barracas has been terrible lately, and not even the recent coach change has helped them play any better. This looks like a perfect spot for Instituto to get the win they need to get closer to the league leader, Velez.
