Young Boys v Aston Villa

Tip: Young Boys +0.75 min odds 2.02

I am betting on Young Boys in this match this evening in the opening round of the new-look UEFA Champions League. Young Boys have made a poor start to the season in Switzerland, but they are better than that; they beat a decent Galatasaray team home and away in the playoff round. They face an Aston Villa team who are making their debut in the Champions League but are past winners of the old European Cup. They last played at this level in the 1982/83 season, where they lost in the quarter-final stage. Villa are without several key players: Leon Bailey, Matty Cash, Tyrone Mings, and Boubacar Kamara, all of whom probably could have expected to start. Villa are inexperienced at this level, and a draw would not be the worst start to the campaign for them. With Villa missing players, I think Young Boys are the value here to take something at home.

Bayern Munich v Dinamo Zagreb

Tip: Bayern Munich -2.5 min odds 1.95

I am betting on Bayern here -2.5. I think they will have far too much for Dinamo. In their last match, Dinamo started +0.5 away to Qarabag. Qarabag are more than a two-goal worse team than Bayern Munich. Bayern, who failed to win the German championship last season, are now coached by Vincent Kompany and are off to a great start in the Bundesliga, winning their first three games. They will want to start the Champions League in the same manner, and I can see this game being very one-sided, especially with Bayern having a full squad to choose from. Therefore, I am betting Bayern -2.5.

Real Madrid v VFB Stuttgart

Tip 1: Real Madrid -1.5 min odds 1.80

Tip 2: Over 3.25 Goals scored min odds 1.80

I am betting on Real Madrid -1.5 and over 3.25 goals scored. Real Madrid look like a class team. I am slightly surprised, given their history and the signing of Mbappe, that they are not favorites to win the Champions League again this season. They kick off their campaign with a match against German side VFB Stuttgart. Playing at home, I think they should have way too much for Stuttgart. Real Madrid went off -0.75 v Dortmund on a neutral ground. Dortmund are more than 0.25 of a goal better than Stuttgart, so I make this version of Real Madrid a bet. I am also adding the over 3.25 goals scored. I think Stuttgart are capable of scoring; they have done so in their opening five games of the season.
