Lanus are almost out of the race for the title after their 4-2 away defeat to Boca Juniors last Saturday, which represented their third loss across the last four games (only beating CA Central Cordoba at home in the process). The team remain on 26 points, seven behind leaders River Plate, and also are still out of the Copa Libertadores’ spots in the 2021 aggregate table. On the road, La Lepra managed a single victory so far (at Lanus 2-1 in round 12), with the other games in this tournament ending in three draws and three defeats.
Newell’s has conceded at least once in their last 10 league games but also scored in 8 of them, and I think this trend will continue this week against a Gimnasia that has scored in 3 of their last 4 games.
