Banfield vs Independiente
Banfield registered a scoreless away draw at newly-promoted Sarmiento in a boring match last Wednesday. Even though they would have wanted to earn a better result, El Taladro are improving under coach Diego Dabove: they lost only one of four matches, having won two and drawn one in the process.
Independiente secured a big win in their struggle to get one of the Copa Libertadores’ tickets last Wednesday, when they beat Boca Juniors 1-0 with Carlos Benavidez netting a header in the first half. El Rojo made it 34 points in the league table (having taken ten from the last 18 available as a product of three successes, one draw and two defeats), which allows them to close the gap behind the last Libertadores’ spot in the aggregate rankings (occupied by their last opponents) to just four points. However, Julio Falcioni’s men are on four away games without a win, having grabbed a single point in that time.
I like this new Banfield, they are not a great team but they are improved while Independiente is too irregular especially when playing away.
