Huracan – Velez
Despite having taken the first lead, Huracan ended up losing 2-1 at Sarandi Arsenal last Saturday. That slump represented their second consecutive defeat in the Copa Liga Profesional and Frank Kudelka’s men remain on three points in as many matches as a result. El Globo also lost their last home match to Estudiantes, which stopped a five-game unbeaten streak of four victories and one draw at Estadio Tomas Adolfo Duco. Centre back Lucas Merolla is still the only relevant absentee.
Velez Sarsfield had to settle for a scoreless home draw against Independiente in an uneventful match last Saturday. Therefore, Mauricio Pellegrino’s men made it four points in three matches in group B. That result also means El Fortin won only one of their last six league games, drawing two and losing three in that spell. Furthermore, Velez grabbed a single point from the last 15 on offer on the road in domestic action (since beating CA Central Cordoba 2-1 in October. Defensive midfielder Santiago Caseres succumbed to an ankle problem and will miss out.
Velez is overall a better team than Huracan, but they’ve been awful playing away lately, and the odds on the hosts look too high to miss.
