Barracas Central vs Tigre
Barracas Central have a mountain to climb in their task of adapting to the top flight. Last Tuesday, they lost 2-0 away at Lanus and they were lucky to have avoided a heavier rout. El Guapo remain pointless in the Copa Liga Profesional and bottom in the relegation table, but they also managed only one regular-time victory in the last six league games if we count last season in the second tier (with two draws and three losses in that spell). On a positive note, Barracas lost only one of their last 18 home matches (winning ten and drawing seven), but their own stadium is not allowed to host first-division matches, so the team will play as hosts at Huracan this season.
Thanks to Mateo Retegui’s goal in stoppage time, Tigre secured a 1-1 home draw against CA Central Cordoba last Wednesday. That result allows them to extend their unbeaten run to nine league matches (five victories and four stalemates) and also stay out of the relegation zone so far, having managed two points in as many games in the Copa Liga Profesional. El Matador haven’t lost any of their last four on away turf, registering two victories and two draws since losing to Estudiantes Caseros 2-1 in October (in the second tier). Key player Lucas Menossi remains out due to his back issues.
These two met in the 2nd division final a few months ago with Tigre getting a narrow 1-0 win, and I think Barracas will try to revenge that defeat here. They might not be exactly reliable yet, but looks like a good opportunity for them to get their first points of the season.

Banfield vs Gimnasia
Giuliano Galoppo’s strike in the 95th minute allowed Banfield to take an important point following a 2-2 draw at Sarmiento in an intense game. The team made it two points in the Copa Liga Profesional and are now going through an irregular moment: they remain unbeaten in the last six league matches, but five of those ended in draws. At home, El Taladro lost only one of their five games under coach Diego Dabove, having registered two victories and two draws since his arrival.
Gimnasia LP striker Cristian Tarragona scored his first goal since arriving from Velez Sarsfield last Thursday, when his team claimed a hard-fought 1-0 home success over San Lorenzo. Nestor Gorosito’s men made it four points from six on offer in the Copa Liga Profesional and also broke a four-match winless streak of three draws and one loss in league action. Furthermore, El Lobo are on three games without a win on away turf, having drawn two and lost one without even scoring.
Gimnasia is not a good team when playing outside their stadium, Banfield has looked quite solid so far and I like their chances of winning here.

Godoy Cruz vs Aldosivi
Godoy Cruz are going through a mini crisis at the moment. Last Thursday, they succumbed to a 3-1 away defeat to Colon (a game played at Patronato), which means the team collected a single point in two games in this competition. In fact, El Tomba are now on four league matches without a win under coach Diego Flores (two draws and two defeats), which places them only five points above the relegation zone in the respective table. At home, Godoy Cruz haven’t claimed any victories in their last four, grabbing two points from 12 on offer in that spell.
Aldosivi remain pointless in the Copa Liga Profesional following their second defeat in two games: they lost 2-1 at home to Boca Juniors having shown a worrying performance last Wednesday. Therefore, the team is still threatened by relegation, leading the drop zone by only six points in the respective table (and occupying 23rd place). Martin Palermo’s men have been irregular on away turf lately, having won two, drawn two and lost two of their last six matches.
Both are very unreliable, they’ve both conceded 4 goals in the first two rounds, and I expect another open game here.
