Banfield vs Platense
Banfield extended their winless streak to five league matches (three stalemates and two defeats) last Tuesday, when they had to settle for a 1-1 away draw at Patronato in an intense game. Javier Sanguinetti’s men continue producing an irregular campaign, having accumulated eight points in as many matches in the Liga Profesional. El Taladro have been the worst home side in this tournament, registering two draws and one loss so far.
Platense dropped down to the bottom spot in the relegation table as a result of their 3-1 home defeat to Boca Juniors. Leonardo Madelon’s men accumulated only six points in the Liga Profesional, having registered a single victory, three draws and four defeats: they are only above Arsenal in the league rankings. El Calamar are winless in their last five away matches, having taken only two points since beating Banfield 1-0 in April. Midfielder Mauro Bogado succumbed to a muscle injury against Boca Juniors and will miss out.
Banfield has been far from good so far in this tournament, especially at home, but if they are going to win a game this season at their stadium it has to be against this very poor Platense.
