Patronato – Banfield
Patronato returned home empty-handed last Saturday following a 1-0 away defeat at Boca Juniors after conceding in the 84th minute. The team won only one of their last five matches (along with two draws and two defeats) to accumulate 11 points in the first seven rounds of the Liga Profesional. Although it’s a decent campaign, they have only three teams below them in the points average table. At home, El Patron are unbeaten in their last seven matches, having won six and drawn one.
Banfield showed improvements last Friday, but they had to settle for a 1-1 home draw against Estudiantes in an intense game. Therefore, they are now on four league games without a win, drawing two and losing two. As a result, El Taladro accumulated seven points in as many rounds in the Liga Profesional, which represents an irregular campaign for them. On a positive note, five of those points were managed on the road as Banfield won one, drew two and lost one.
Patronato has looked improved so far this season, they didn’t deserve to lose against Boca and at home they should be favorites against this irregular Banfield.

Colon – Sarmiento
Colon played their worst game in the current league tournament last Friday and they ended up losing 3-0 away at Aldosivi. That defeat put an end to their four-match unbeaten streak of one draw and three straight wins in the league. As a result, the defending champions remain on 13 points, trailing leaders Independiente by two. At home, Eduardo Dominguez’s men won their last two games (over Godoy Cruz and Gimnasia LP).
Following an excellent performance in the second half, Sarmiento celebrated a much-needed 3-0 home success over Atletico Tucuman last Friday. As a result, the team left the bottom spot of the relegation table, climbing into the 21st place. Mario Sciacqua’s men managed nine points in the Liga Profesional so far, registering three victories and four defeats. On a sorry note, Sarmiento are winless on away turf since their return to the top flight, securing four points from 30 on offer (and having lost the last three at Patronato, Racing Club and Defensa y Justicia). Playmaker Gervasio Nunez succumbed to a muscle problem against Atletico Tucuman and will miss out. Striker Rodrigo Salinas and defensive midfielder Federico Bravo remain sidelined.
Colon comes from a really bad performance, but at home against this Sarmiento that got only 4 out of 30 points on 10 away games since last season, they should recover and get the win.

Racing – Central Cordoba
Racing Club managed their second consecutive victory under interim boss Claudio Ubeda last Saturday, when they beat Sarandi Arsenal 3-0 away. Thanks to that success, La Academia climbed into second spot in the Liga Profesional’s table on 14 points (having won four, drawn two and lost one), trailing leaders Independiente by one. They also approached the Copa Libertadores’ places in the 2021 aggregate table (currently out due to goal difference). At home, Racing managed 16 points from the last 18 on offer in domestic action since losing to Godoy Cruz 4-2 in April.
CA Central Cordoba wasted a 2-0 lead last Saturday, when they ended up drawing 2-2 against Platense as hosts at Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades. That result extended their winless streak to four league games (two stalemates and two defeats): Gustavo Coleoni’s men earned only six points in seven rounds so far, which keeps them near the bottom spots in the relegation table. Furthermore, El Ferroviario are on seven matches without a win on away turf, registering four draws and three losses since beating Aldosivi 2-1 in March.
Racing has looked confident since the coach change winning back to back games, and they should get a third one at home against this poor Central Cordoba.
