Betting Tips – Argentine Primera Division

Huracan vs Tigre

BET: OVER 1.75 @ 1.77

Huracan don’t want to give up on their fight for the title. Last Saturday, the team secured an important point on their visit to Argentinos Juniors, drawing 0-0 away in a hard-fought game. In fact, Frank Kudelka’s men have been unbeaten in their last 15 league games, winning eight and drawing seven. Huracan haven’t lost any of their last 12 home encounters, with seven victories and five stalemates in that spell.

Tigre played their best match in 2024 last weekend, when they dominated from beginning to end and secured a massive 5-1 home victory over Union Santa Fe (who were second-placed beforehand). El Matador put an end to their three-match winless streak of one draw and two defeats in league action to make it 13 points in the Liga Profesional, climbing out of the relegation zone in the aggregate table (now advantaging bottom-placed CA Central Cordoba by one point). Tigre claimed only one success across their last 13 away matches, drawing three and losing nine.

After Velez’ win on Saturday now Huracan are in 2nd place, 3 points behind them and if they don’t want to be left behind they will have to win here. Tigre comes from their best performance in a very long time where they scored 5 goals, but they are still one of the worst defenses in the league with 18 goals conceded in 12 games. Huracan has struggled to score lately but against this defense they should do it, and with Tigre desperate for points I have to expect a game with at least 2 goals.

Platense vs San Lorenzo

BET: San Lorenzo DNB @ 2.11

Platense returned to winning ways last time out thanks to their effectiveness in a hard-fought away match at Independiente Rivadavia, which they won 2-0 with Mateo Pellegrino and Ronaldo Martinez’s scoring. El Calamar put an end to a three-game winless streak of one draw and two defeats in league action to accumulate 15 points in the Liga Profesional and to continue escaping relegation threats. On a sorry note, Platense remain without a win in their last three at home, drawing one and losing two without even scoring since beating Boca Juniors 1-0 in June.

San Lorenzo took a big breather last Sunday, securing an important 2-0 home success over Talleres thanks to goals from Alexis Cuello and Elian Irala. El Ciclon put an end to their four-match winless streak of two stalemates and two defeats in league action to make it ten points in the Liga Profesional and to open a healthy nine-point gap over the relegation zone in the aggregate table, still holding one game in hand.

San Lorenzo finally won a game after a few good performances where they had been unlucky not to take the 3 points and will go to visit Platense, who has struggled at home lately, with a much-improved morale so I expect them to at least avoid a defeat.

Independiente vs River

BET: OVER 2 @ 1.97

Independiente fans will have celebrated the team’s away point in a heated city derby against Racing Club last Sunday, when they drew 0-0 despite suffering two sending-offs during the match. As a result, Julio Vaccari’s men made it four league matches unbeaten, winning two and drawing two without even conceding in that time. El Rojo accumulated 15 points in the Liga Profesional, which places them just two points behind the last Copa Sudamericana spot in the aggregate table, occupied by Argentinos Juniors. Independiente haven’t lost any of the last five at Estadio Libertadores de America, with two victories and three stalemates since losing to Talleres 3-1 in May. On Wednesday, they won 3-0 over Godoy Cruz in the Copa Argentina round of 16. Federico Vera and Damian Perez were sent off at Racing Club and are suspended for Sunday, as well as Joaquin Laso, who reached the yellow-card limit.

River Plate played below expectations last Sunday and ended up registering a disappointing scoreless home stalemate against Newell’s Old Boys. Following that result, El Millonario made it 17 points in the Liga Profesional (seven behind leaders Huracan and Velez Sarsfield), having won only one of their last eight matches in this competition, along with five draws and two losses. That negative streak still prevents them from climbing into the Copa Libertadores’ zone in the aggregate table. In fact, River managed just two points from the last 15 on offer as the visiting side in league action.

Independiente has looked better but will miss most of their starting defense due to suspension. When River is playing goals are almost secured except in last week’s scoreless draw vs Newell’s who just defended the whole game, but this should be a very different story because Independiente wants to win this derby, so a couple of goals should definitely be expected.

Atletico Tucuman vs Racing

BET: Atletico Tucuman DNB @ 2.01

Atletico Tucuman fans will have felt heartbroken after the team’s 1-0 away defeat to Rosario Central last Monday, when they conceded the winner just six minutes before the final whistle. Following that result, El Decano wasted the chance of becoming Liga Profesional leaders as they remain on 22 points, now trailing table toppers Velez Sarsfield and Huracan by two. Facundo Sava’s men also saw a nine-game unbeaten streak of five victories and four draws in this competition coming to an end. Atletico are without defeat in their last eight at Estadio Jose Fierro, winning five and drawing three.

Racing Club wasted a big chance last Sunday, when they had to settle for a scoreless home stalemate against arch-rivals Independiente even though the visitors saw two red cards. La Academia couldn’t approach the top of the Liga Profesional table as they made it 21 points (trailing leaders Huracan and Velez Sarsfield by three) after losing only one of their last five matches in this competition (winning two and drawing two). As a result of this campaign, Gustavo Costas’ men remain occupying one of the Copa Libertadores’ spots in the aggregate table. Racing won 1-0 at Newell’s Old Boys in their last away game to break a three-match winless streak of one stalemate and two losses on the road in domestic action.

Racing has been too irregular lately and won’t have their best striker, Adrian Martinez, due to suspension so I’ll go with Atletico Tucuman to at least not lose at these tempting odds.
