Bookies William Hill are offering 6/1 that next week will produce the hottest day of the year as forecaster predict a very early end to the summer. Hills have also pushed out the price of temperatures topping 100f in 2008 from 6/1 to 12/1.

“It has been a very disappointing summer and despite a possible good week ahead, the bookies have officially announced summer is over!”said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

Heath Ledger is being heavily tipped to win a posthumous Oscar by bookmakers William Hill for his performance in The Dark Knight, and they have slashed their price on him winning from 12/1 to 3/1.

“Every year there is a buzz about a particular performance and we always gets calls but we have not seen this much early interest in the Oscars since Helen Mirren won with her flawless performance as the Queen,” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.
