Odds after Day 1 of Premiership

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Manchester United only managing a draw probably saved the bookies millions in payouts. How many accumulators accross the world were just depending on Man U?

WILLIAM HILL have promoted Chelsea from 13/8 second favourites to Even money clear favourites to win the Premiership title and lengthened Manchester United from 11/8 favourites to 2/1 second favourites after the champions dropped two points in their first game. ‘It may seem an over reaction but it is rare for United to drop points at home and with Ronaldo and Tevez both missing they seemed more adversely affected than Chelsea without Drogba.’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Odds on Henry to Join Man U.

WHICH OF BIG FOUR WILL BE PREM TOP SCORERS?

WITH his strike-force looking a little problematic for Sir Alex Ferguson, William Hill are offering 7/1 that he will draft Thierry Henry into his side before the transfer window closes, but make United 11/8 favourites to outscore their ‘Big Four’ rivals – offering 2/1 that Arsenal score most of the four with Chelsea at 3/1 and Liverpool 11/2.

The Dailymail has reported that Ferguson is to launch £20m bid to land Henry. Guess odds of 7/1 mean that William Hill think its about 10% likely.

UNITED – FIRST TROPHY OF MANY THIS SEASON?

William Hill make Manchester United a 150/1 chance to win all four major trophies available to them this season – and 11/10 to end the season with nothing other than the Community Shield to show for their efforts.

They are 7/4 to win one of the four; 9/4 any two; 25/1 any three.
United are 11/8 favourites to win the Premiership title with William Hill who make Chelsea 13/8 with Arsenal 4/1 and Liverpool 15/2.

PORTSMOUTH are 250/1 to win the Premiership, but 7/1 fifth favourites in William Hill’s ‘Without the Big 4′ market for which Spurs are 2/1 favourites with Everton and Villa both 5/1 and Manchester City 11/2.

Premier League 2008/09 Handicaps

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

I actually fancy Fulham. With the great end to last season I see 43 points as a gift. Spurs look good too but all too often they disappoint.  Looks like the bookies have got spot on with the Premiership handicaps again and its a tough market to win.

William Hill football updates

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

DESPITE being linked with a shock move to CSKA Moskow, 20/1 shot Harry Redknapp has not attracted a single bet so far in William Hill’s First Premier League manager to leave his club this season market. ‘We haven’t seen anything at all for Harry to head out to Russia – after all, if he felt Newcastle was too far north, he’s unlikely to want to try out the frozen wastes of Moscow!’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe – ‘However, Alan Curbishley IS being backed to be the first boss to go and unless the Hammers get off to a fast start we’d expect him to come under early pressure from the fans’.

Gareth Barry to Liverpool?

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Gareth Barry is 1/2 to be at Liverpool on the first day of the Premiership season after Villa fans made their feelings clear but Hills expect Ronaldo to remain at Manchester United and offer 4/9 that he is still playing for them on the first day of season 2008/9.

Kevin Keegan could be in trouble after failing to attract star players to Newcastle and he is now the best backed manager to go at 7/1. Newcastle managers don’t tend to last long. (more…)
