WITH his strike-force looking a little problematic for Sir Alex Ferguson, William Hill are offering 7/1 that he will draft Thierry Henry into his side before the transfer window closes, but make United 11/8 favourites to outscore their ‘Big Four’ rivals – offering 2/1 that Arsenal score most of the four with Chelsea at 3/1 and Liverpool 11/2.

The Dailymail has reported that Ferguson is to launch £20m bid to land Henry. Guess odds of 7/1 mean that William Hill think its about 10% likely.

UNITED – FIRST TROPHY OF MANY THIS SEASON?

PORTSMOUTH are 250/1 to win the Premiership, but 7/1 fifth favourites in William Hill’s ‘Without the Big 4′ market for which Spurs are 2/1 favourites with Everton and Villa both 5/1 and Manchester City 11/2.

KEVIN PHILLIPS’ late winner for Birmingham has kept them as favourites to win the Championship with William Hill who quote them at 9/2, with QPR 6/1 second favourites and Reading 7/1 third. I actually fancy Fulham. With the great end to last season I see 43 points as a gift. Spurs look good too but all too often they disappoint.  Looks like the bookies have got spot on with the Premiership handicaps again and its a tough market to win.

DESPITE being linked with a shock move to CSKA Moskow, 20/1 shot Harry Redknapp has not attracted a single bet so far in William Hill’s First Premier League manager to leave his club this season market. ‘We haven’t seen anything at all for Harry to head out to Russia – after all, if he felt Newcastle was too far north, he’s unlikely to want to try out the frozen wastes of Moscow!’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe – ‘However, Alan Curbishley IS being backed to be the first boss to go and unless the Hammers get off to a fast start we’d expect him to come under early pressure from the fans’.
