Scotland v Argentina, Wednesday, Sky Sports 1, 8:00pm

November 18, 2008 by Filed under: Football

Scotland are the first side to face an Argentinean side managed by former Argentine legend Diego Maradonna, as they travel to Hampden Park on Wednesday night. It was on the same ground in 1979 that Maradonna scored the first of his international goals, and Scotland manager George Burley will hope to deal with him better than he did that night. Burley was in the Scotland defence 29 years ago as the Scots lost 3-1 to a Maradonna inspired side, but he will have to overcome the withdrawals of keeper Craig Gordon, influential midfielder Darren Fletcher, and striker Kenny Miller as he looks to gain revenge for that night.

Scotland are the 4/1 underdogs with BGbet, while Argentina are 8/13 with VCbet to start Maradonna’s reign with a victory.

If Chris Iwelumo scores at anytime during Scotland v Argentina, BGbet will refund all losing first goalscorer stakes on the match.
