Robbie Keane to Everton Odds

January 27, 2009 by Filed under: Football

There have been a few rumours that Robbie Keane off leaving Liverpool. Guess that is obvious. You don’t leave £20 million worth of striker on the bench. What is shocking is that Everton are the 5/2 favourites to be the next destination for Liverpool’s out of favour striker Robbie Keane. That’s never going to happen though. Life long Liverpool fans don’t go play for Everton. I think Keane would rather chop his left bollock off that play for Everton.

Following requests from punters in Ireland and the UK bookie Paddy Power is betting on Robbie Keane’s next club after he failed to make the bench for Liverpool’s FA Cup stalemate with Everton last Sunday.

With no recognised strikers Everton seem in the most need for Keane’s services although the likely high cost of his transfer fee could prove a stumbling block. Everton are followed in the betting by Martin O’Neill’s Aston Villa at 9/2 whilst Keane is 5/1 to join the Irish contingent at Sunderland.

Having already brought Defoe and Chimbonda back into the fold, Spurs are 11/2 to bring Keane back to The Lane, the same price as money-bags Manchester City.

Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: “It’s all gone wrong for Robbie and looks to be more a case of when and not if he moves on from Liverpool. Our punters think the game is up at Anfield and want to bet on where he goes next but the problem for Keane might be that there are few clubs in the current climate that can afford him.”

Relegation bets

Meanwhile with action returning to the Premier League this week Paddy Power are betting on who will finish bottom in the relegation dogfight. Stoke are the 7/4 favourites closely followed by West Brom at 2/1.

The bookie is also offering 20/1 for the three new boys to go back down. Stoke, who Paddy Power paid out on going down back in August, West Brom and the fast-sliding Hull lead the way in relegation betting at 2/5, 1/2 and 11/4, respectively.
