English Championship Mini Preview 2009-2010

August 6, 2009 by Filed under: Football

Much will be expected of the three relegated clubs when the Coca Cola Championship kicks off this weekend. All eyes will be on Newcastle after a season of turmoil on and of the pitch they will be hoping they can bounce back at the first time of asking. Middlesbrough will also want to mount a serious push for promotion in which could be theirs and Gareth Southgate’s defining season.

West Brom are a team with lots of experience in this kind of scenario but i feel the departure of Tony Mowbray to Celtic will be to much of a big loss for the Baggies. Add to this the likes of Sheffield United, Reading and Cardiff City who will also feel that the top 2 spots are not out of reach, this promises to be one of the more exciting seasons to date.

What also makes this season very interesting are teams such as Sheffield Wednesday, Crystal Palace, Ipswich and QPR who have all strengthened there squads and will feel a challenge for a play off spot is a possibility.

Here are the best prices available for the League winners:
West Brom 13/2 (Ladbrokes)
Middlesbrough 8/1 (Ladbrokes)
Newcastle 8/1 (William Hills)
Ipswich 12/1 (Ladbrokes)
Sheffield United 12/1 (Ladbrokes)
Reading 18/1 (Ladbrokes)
QPR 20/1 (Ladbrokes)
