David James Favourite to start for England against USA

May 24, 2010 by Filed under: Football

Even though David James did not play any part in tonight’s friendly game against Mexico, British Bookmaker, William Hill make him 4/5 odds on favourite to start as England’s number 1. Joe Hart is second favourite at 6/4 whereas Robert Green is an outsider at 9/2. A William Hill spokesman commented that, “Although neither Green nor Hart did much wrong, Capello has probably already made up his mind who will start the first World Cup game in goal”.

Despite the lacklustre performance against a Mexican team that isn’t expected to do well in the final, William Hill still have England 3rd favourite to win the 2010 World Cup. Spain are favourites and Brazil second favourites. North Korea are outsiders at odds of 2000/1 which is still a bad price in my opinion.
