PaddyPower Paying 7 places on the open, Boylesport Paying 8 places

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

PaddyPower bookies are paying 7 Places on this week’s Open Championship.

Tiger Woods isn’t playing!!! Whatever man! That dude is so last decade and he’s like, 35 or something, which is like practically dead and stuff.

Hmm it’s interesting that in trying to replicate the speech of a modern day youth in an effort to emphasise the growing contingent of young golf stars competing for top honours at the moment, we just ended up sounding like Jedward. Which means all young people are either self-obsessed, irritating morons or that’s how they sound to us only slightly older folk. 30 isn’t old you little a**holes!!!! Naturally all the attention is on Rory McIlroy but winning two-in-a-row is a feat which may be beyond his tender years. Don’t worry though Rory, you’ll be old too soon enough.

Anyway, if you hadn’t already noticed Paddypower are paying 7 Places on this year’s Open. Most other bookmakers are paying 6 places.

Usually we’d make a stab at some kind of preview but what’s the point? Eight of the last ten Major winners have been first time winners, as have eight of the last twelve Open Championship winners (Yes we know it’s technically the last fifteen Open Championships but Woods won three and Harrington two and by carefully wording the sentence we came to the more impressive figure of eight from twelve. With that kind of fact manipulation we should go work for the News of the World…it’s been folded? Well The Sun then…it’s the same paper.) . Plus there’s like over a hundred guys taking part. Good thing we’re offering that extra place so. Shazam, now that’s what we call a full marketing circle.

Bet with Paddypower here.

If you want 8 places on the open though, best off going with Boylesport. The other major Irish bookmaker has done one better.

Special Odds for Djokovic, Federer, Nadal and Murray to reach Wimbledon semi’s

Friday, June 17th, 2011

Wimbledon is fast approaching. As Wimbledon fans assemble on Murray’s Mount this year, there is an even higher sense of expectation being placed on the young Scot’s shoulders. Murray seems to have hit a run of form just in time for the grass-court slam, and his victory at Queen’s has certainly turned up the heat on the competition but he still starts 4th favourite behind Djokovic, Federer and Nadal.

World No. 1 Rafael Nadal is the defending champion, while Roger Federer is a six-time winner at the All England Club, and between them, the pair have won every title since 2003.

All of the top four seeds seem to be in good form of late, and it would take a brave man to bet against any of them. So, why not just back them all to get to the semi final?

That’s right folks Paddy Power has another great Enhanced Price Special for you!

They have a special price of 4/1 for all of them to reach the semi final. New sign ups also get a £25 free matched bet. £25 bet on the special returns £100 + £25 stake back.

If you don’t fancy that then they have a range of bets on Wimbledon. Outright Betting, Match Betting, Set Betting, To Win 1st Set, Big Guns v The Field, Game Handicap, Total Sets, Set Handicap, Player A To Win At Least 1 Set, Total Match Games, Player B To Win At Least 1 Set, 1st Set Total Games, 2nd Set Total Games, Alternative Game Handicap 1, Alternative Game Handicap 2, Alternative Game Handicap 3, Alternative Game Handicap 4, Total Player A Games, Total Player B Games, Player A To Win 1st Service Game, Player B To Win 1st Service Game, Correct Score 1st Set, Total Number of Service Breaks and 1st Break of Service.

Paddypower Bookies Paying 6 places on the US Open 2011

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

Paddypower, the world famous Irish Bookmaker are paying 6 places on the US Open 2011. Most other bookmakers are paying only 5 places but Paddypower are paying a quarter odds for up to 6 places.

With the favourite, Le Westwood at 11/1, you will still get a decent payout if he comes in the top 6. With no strong favourite, there is an excellent chance to win a place bet. Click here to sign up and get a £25 free matched bet.

Paddypower’s US Open Preview.
It’s become the rule rather than the exception. Another Major and another ‘Operation Needle In A Haystack’. A sequence of Majors with no one superstar who’s predicted to dominate affairs is nothing new to golf – to people of a certain vintage it’s known as the 80s – but since the emergence of Tiger, it’s rare to head into a tournament without one name leaping off the page at you. Tiger is again marked absent – not that he was likely to win anyway – but it further strengthens the belief that it’s really wide open and only the borderline joke players at 1,000/1 can be ruled out with any level of certainty.

In recent times, the world of golf has seen more number ones than a toilet attendant at a busy nightclub. We’ve got lots of players vying for top spot and when it comes to the Majors, there’s no one standout candidate. After saying Lee Westwood is good enough to win a Major (and possibly more) on numerous occasions in the past, we’re running the risk of sounding a lot like that preacher guy who predicts the Rapture every couple of years to no avail, but the difference is we think Westwood winning a Major will actually happen at some stage. We’ve been over this ground plenty of times before so whether or not it’s this time around is up for you to decide.

The story of Graeme McDowell defending the Major he won to catapult him into the world’s elite is the overly sentimental tug at the heartstrings promos Sky Sports have plumped for in their attempts to hype up the event and in turn distract you from the fact the football season is over. But even that’s not a storyline they’re likely to get much mileage out of if G-Mac continues on his recent form. Having spent a few months struggling to find his best golf, he played the Celtic Manor Wales Open in the hope of building up some confidence by beating some of Europe’s averagest journeymen pros, but that went about as well as Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and after an interesting start, he sank without trace.

Although none of the Majors currently reside in the trophy cabinets of any Americans, the home contingent are expected to do well at the Congressional Country Club. Unlike several other venues for the US Open, this course is regularly a destination on the PGA Tour and as such the locals should have a few tricks up their sleeves about how to trim a couple of shots off your round or at the very least, know where to get the best pizza. In theory at least, that makes Phil Mickelson a contender, but his patchy form makes him about as trustworthy as a politician with an expense account. Better options may come in the form of Steve Stricker, Dustin Johnson, Hunter Mahan, Nick Watney and Bubba ‘ Bubba done good’ Watson. He’s not been at his cocky best for a while now, but it’s also worth keeping an eye out for Anthony Kim, who won the AT&T National here in 2008.

If we’re opting for the ‘horses for courses’ route, then Ernie Els is worth a mention. He may not be worth a bet, but he’s worth a mention. Sure the Big Easy has been bumbling along for the last few years, occasionally returning to something approaching his best form, but maybe this could be the start of a resurgence. He’s been around for so long, he’s got the air of one of those ‘ceremonial players’ who have won the event before and come back every year mainly for the free food and drinks with their buddies, but Ernie’s still only 41 and in the world of silly pants wearing, that’s not quite Jurassic.

If all our bluffing and fudging the issue wasn’t enough of a clue, we don’t really have a clue who’ll win this renewal of the US Open, but our paying 6 Places gives you a much better chance of getting it right. For golfing tips, maybe we’re not that hot, but for value, you’re in the right place.

Murray Wimbledon odds and Special Bets on the weather

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

With Murray fresh off winning the Queen’s club tennis even, the bookies have him at fourth favourite to win Wimbledon 2011. His opponent on Monday, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, is now 20/1 from 33/1. Murray has the potential to win Wimbledon this year but has to see of some tough competition. Nadal is favourite at 2/1, with Federer at 5/2 and and Djokovic at 11/4.

Despite winning at Queen’s, William Hill rate Andy Murray as their 6/1 fourth favourite to win Wimbledon when it starts next week, whilst losing finalist Tsonga has been cut from 33/1 to 20/1. Nadal is the 2/1 favourite, with Roger Federer 5/2 and Djokovic at 11/4. He’ll surely need to beat 2 of those 3 to clinch the title.

“Murray may well be the King of Queen’s but the odds suggest he will not have everything his own way next week,” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

Steve Davis Odds on Winning the World Snooker Championship.

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

We may have just witnessed the biggest shock in World Snooker Championship history. 52 year old Davis knocked out current champion John Higgins with a thrilling 13-11 victory.William Hill say they already face a million pound payout on 500/1 shot Steve Davis.

‘One client from Fleet in Hampshire opened a new account purely to stake a £100 bet on Steve Davis for the World Title at 500/1, and we have taken scores more bets for him at 500/1 before he played Higgins – if he wins the payout will be into seven figures, and he is now down to 16/1 to win the tournament – while we are eve quoting him at 33/1 to become this year’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner’ said William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe. ‘He is certainly the most interesting player in the tournament as far as we are concerned.’

Golf Open Championship Betting – PaddyPower Paying 7 places Each Way

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Whilst some bookmakers offer just five places on the biggest golf betting event of the year Paddy Power are again leading the way down the fairway to payout on the first seven players at the top of the final leaderboard. An each way bet pays 1/4 odds at Paddypower.

With Tiger Woods in fine form after his win at the AT&T National over the weekend the world number one is just 2/1 to win at Turnberry next week, which if the betting is to be believed could make the each way odds to seven places that Paddy Power are offering all the more valuable.

Lance Armstrong 11/2 Odds to Win Tour de France

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

This Saturday sees the start of the Tour de France 2009. The big news is that 7 times winner, Lance Armstrong is returning.

Armstrong is the 11/2 second favourite to win the Tour De France behind hot favourite Alberto Contador at 11/10. As with many sports Paddy Power has seen a firm split between the head and the heart in the betting. The emotional money has been firmly toward Armstrong whilst Contador, winner of the Tour two years ago and considered the best rider in the world, attracts the serious wagers.

Odds on Federer Winning Wimbledon 2009

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Following Roger Federer’s epic battle in the French Open, Bookmaker Paddy Power has shortened his odds to 5/4 favourite to win Wimbledon – the first time the legendary Swiss ace has been favourite to win Wimbledon since January.

Federer and Nadal had been installed as 13/8 joint favourites for Wimbledon after their final 12 months ago before Nadal became market leader when winning the Australian Open.

Bookie Specials for the Oz Open

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

Bookies are bracing themselves for Andy Murray winning his first Grand Slam tournament when the Oz Open gets under way on Monday – a victory which would serve up millions for patriotic punters. A more likely loss would be a win fall for the bookies though. One of my betting maxims is to always oppose patriotism. Even if it wins, the odds are never fair.

As the tennis world gears up for its first major of the year in Australia Andy Murray, at 5/2, is the shortest priced Brit to win a Grand Slam tournament in the modern era, reports bookie Paddy Power.

Andy Murray Tennis Specials

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

For those of you interest in tennis betting. Andy Murray has been cut to joint favourite for next week’s Australian Open – the first time the Scot has headed the betting for a Grand Slam title, reports bookie Paddy Power.

At 5/2, along with Roger Federer, the patriotic punt on Murray-mania has cut the British number one’s odds to land his first major from a pre-Christmas 11/2. It is also the first time a British player has been favourite for one of the four Grand Slam tournaments in the modern era of the game.

Such has been the bandwagon that Murray’s odds to win Wimbledon this year have also been cut from 8/1 to 4/1 whilst it’s just 13/10 he finishes the year with one major to his name. Whilst it looks to be a year of success for the Scot, some supporters are really getting patriotic with their punts with Paddy Power even taking bets on Murray winning all four Grand Slam titles this year at odds of 100/1.
