Raven’s Pass Heads Breeders’ Mile Betting After Stealing Qeii Crown!

The adage ‘if at first you don’t succeed”.’ proved true for Raven’s Pass at Ascot this afternoon when the miler finally struck gold against his closest rivals in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot.

John Gosden’s-charge has finished behind market leaders Henrythenavigator and Tamayuz a total of three times this season, but stormed home to victory today, and in the process transposed the 2000 Guineas winner as at the head of the Breeders’ Cup mile betting. (more…)

Rainbow View 7-4 For Guineas After Acing At Ascot!

Rainbow View was slashed to 7-4 from 3-1 for the 1000 Guineas by William Hill today after a superlative victory in the Group One Fillies? Mile. The daughter of Dynaformer has firmly cemented her place as Winter favourite for the first Fillies? Classic of the year after her victory today, and Hills also make her 9-2 (from 8-1) favourite for the Oaks.

Ayr plays host to Europe’s richest sprint handicap on Saturday when the Ayr Gold Cup gets underway at 3:30pm on Saturday. There is a large field of 27 runners in what is a very open race, with five horses currently at the top of the market. Advanced and Confuchias are the current joint favourites at 8/1 with BGbet and VCbet respectively, closely followed by Hogmaneigh and Valery Borzov. Kentucky Derby winner a European?

20-1 A EURO HORSE CAPTURES THE RUN FOR THE ROSES

With the news that Kempton is to host a Kentucky Derby entry race, bookmakers William Hill make it 20-1 that a European runner steals the famous race for the very first time next year.

Kempton have designed the 11-furlong race in conjunction with Churchill Downs to allow the winner of the £80,000 race direct entry into the Run for the Roses. The winner will also be eligible for a £100,000 bonus if they go on to run in the first of the American Tripe Crown races. (more…)

Saturday’s Ayr Gold Cup Betting at William Hill

Twenty seven runners are set to line-up for Saturday’s Ayr Gold Cup and defending champion Advanced still heads the betting at 9-1 with William Hill, along with the Karl Burke-trained Confuchias.

Kevin Ryan’s five-year-old has not won since taking the six-furlong event a year ago, but has acquitted himself admirably in his last two races’ running Look Busy to a length in his last start in Listed company.

St Leger stakes Antepost Odds from Bet365

This weekend’s big race is the Betfred Sprint Cup from Haydock on Saturday (3.10pm).

Utmost Respect and African Rose head the betting at 7/2 and 4/1 with VCbet and Centrebet respectively; although in a quality field they are sure to face many challengers. Aidan O’ Brian saddles three runners in the shape of Abraham Lincoln, Astronomer Royal and US Ranger, with champion jockey Jamie Spencer aboard the latter, a 15/2 chance with Centrebet.
