Birmingham v Queens Park Rangers, Saturday, Sky Sports 1, 1:00pm

October 4, 2008 by Filed under: Football

Two of the main contender’s for the Championship crown clash at St. Andrews on Saturday when moneybags QPR visit Birmingham. Many expected QPR to splash the cash this summer after the Formula One tycoons Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone invested in the club. However, their plan for the club is different to the Abramovich style bank roll that has taken place just across London at Stamford Bridge. Despite the many rumoured big name signings all failing to appear, QPR started the new campaign solidly, although they have faltered in recent weeks against Derby and Blackpool at home.

Birmingham sit second in the Championship, having started the season strongly but, like QPR have been a bit disappointing in recent weeks. Curiously, like QPR they have also found it tough against Derby and Blackpool in recent weeks. They could go top of the Championship with a win here, and will be backed by a partisan home crowd.

Birmingham are 5/6 to go top with a win at BetWithRed, while Pagebet make QPR 13/5 to climb into a playoff place.
