Robbie Keane to Everton Odds

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

There have been a few rumours that Robbie Keane off leaving Liverpool. Guess that is obvious. You don’t leave £20 million worth of striker on the bench. What is shocking is that Everton are the 5/2 favourites to be the next destination for Liverpool’s out of favour striker Robbie Keane. That’s never going to happen though. Life long Liverpool fans don’t go play for Everton. I think Keane would rather chop his left bollock off that play for Everton.

Following requests from punters in Ireland and the UK bookie Paddy Power is betting on Robbie Keane’s next club after he failed to make the bench for Liverpool’s FA Cup stalemate with Everton last Sunday. (more…)

Scolari, Hughes and Southgate favourites to be sacked

Monday, January 19th, 2009

WILLIAM HILL have cut Gareth Southgate from 10/1 to 15/8 favourite to be the next Premiership boss to lose his job this season.

Hills make former favourite Mark Hughes 11/4 joint second favourite with Scolari. ‘Gareth is still a rookie boss, but has a very supportive chairman, or he would certainly be an odds-on shot after Saturday’s result’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Scolari was out in the 30s a few weeks ago. Gutted that I didn’t get on then. I think he’s a good beet to be gone. Chelsea are a team that look like they may implode. The next Leeds United maybe?

Next manager to be sacked odds.

Bookie Specials for the Oz Open

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

Bookies are bracing themselves for Andy Murray winning his first Grand Slam tournament when the Oz Open gets under way on Monday – a victory which would serve up millions for patriotic punters. A more likely loss would be a win fall for the bookies though. One of my betting maxims is to always oppose patriotism. Even if it wins, the odds are never fair.

As the tennis world gears up for its first major of the year in Australia Andy Murray, at 5/2, is the shortest priced Brit to win a Grand Slam tournament in the modern era, reports bookie Paddy Power.

Premiership Betting, Latest Title odds

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

With Manchester United looking ominous in the league after their 3-0 win over Chelsea many pundits are asking the question who is likely to be the champion’s most likely challenger this season. Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea may be faltering on recent form but bookie Paddy Power has taken up the challenge to bet on United’s most likely rivals. I still personally think that there is something wrong with Manchester United. One nil wonders of late. I think the 3-0 victory was due to Chelsea being poor rather than United being so great.

Draw specialists Liverpool just have the edge over Chelsea’s current form of three wins in eleven games and are Evens in Paddy Power’s Premier League betting without Manchester United. Chelsea follow closely at 6/5 with Arsenal 8/1 and Aston Villa 14/1.

Andy Murray Tennis Specials

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

For those of you interest in tennis betting. Andy Murray has been cut to joint favourite for next week’s Australian Open – the first time the Scot has headed the betting for a Grand Slam title, reports bookie Paddy Power.

At 5/2, along with Roger Federer, the patriotic punt on Murray-mania has cut the British number one’s odds to land his first major from a pre-Christmas 11/2. It is also the first time a British player has been favourite for one of the four Grand Slam tournaments in the modern era of the game.

Such has been the bandwagon that Murray’s odds to win Wimbledon this year have also been cut from 8/1 to 4/1 whilst it’s just 13/10 he finishes the year with one major to his name. Whilst it looks to be a year of success for the Scot, some supporters are really getting patriotic with their punts with Paddy Power even taking bets on Murray winning all four Grand Slam titles this year at odds of 100/1.

MINI-ME TIPPED TO REIGN CELEB BIG BROTHER HOUSE

This may be of interest to you who watch this. Looking at the line up I have no interest in this.

As speculation continues about the final line up for this year’s Celebrity Big Brother series, reality-TV betting experts, Paddy Power, have reported a surge of betting in support of pint-size Hollywood actor, Verne Troyer.

Recent reports that the Austin Powers star has already broken Big Brother rules by boozing late into the night at fashionable London nightclubs seem to have got punters pulses racing. Troyer is now Paddy Power’s 3-1 favourite to win this year’s series.
