William Hill football updates

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

DESPITE being linked with a shock move to CSKA Moskow, 20/1 shot Harry Redknapp has not attracted a single bet so far in William Hill’s First Premier League manager to leave his club this season market. ‘We haven’t seen anything at all for Harry to head out to Russia – after all, if he felt Newcastle was too far north, he’s unlikely to want to try out the frozen wastes of Moscow!’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe – ‘However, Alan Curbishley IS being backed to be the first boss to go and unless the Hammers get off to a fast start we’d expect him to come under early pressure from the fans’.

Gorden Brown Betting Odds

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Bookmakers William Hill have lengthened the price of Gordon Brown leaving office by the end of the year as punters pile on him to hang on to his job at least until next year, with Hills now 6/5 that he will see the year out and 8/13 that he will not. The Prime Minister will also be pleased that there has been money for him to lead the Labour party into the next General Election which was almost unthinkable on Friday. Gareth Barry to Liverpool?

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Gareth Barry is 1/2 to be at Liverpool on the first day of the Premiership season after Villa fans made their feelings clear but Hills expect Ronaldo to remain at Manchester United and offer 4/9 that he is still playing for them on the first day of season 2008/9.

Kevin Keegan could be in trouble after failing to attract star players to Newcastle and he is now the best backed manager to go at 7/1. Newcastle managers don’t tend to last long. (more…)

Monday, July 21st, 2008

I can’t see it but William Hill have put Arsenal favourites to remain unbeaten for the longest.

William Hill have opened a book on which of the Big 4 will remain unbeaten for the longest period once the season starts and also have prices for all four to remain unbeaten for the entire season.

“Arsenal look to have the best early fixtures list and are the favourites to remain unbeaten the longest, but it is a long shot that they remain unbeaten all season,” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams (more…)

THE GLASGOW East by-election is shaping up to be the biggest betting by-election, with the odds suggesting that Labour are increasingly likely to hold this important seat.
