Asian Bookies
List of Major Bookmakers that offer Asian Odds
This is not an article about bookmakers in Asia. Living in the UK, I wouldn't trust my money with any Far Eastern bokie. This is about bookies that offer Asian Handicap markets.
Asian handicaps are an alternative to 1X2 betting on football matches. The aim of the handicap is to make each bet a 50-50 chance. The weaker team will be given a head start and the bet is settled on the handicap result. Basically, as there are only 2 outcomes, the over round (or juice) that the bookmaker has is less. This makes them much better value. You can read an Introduction to Asian Handicaps.
So which reputable bookmakers offer Asian odds? Here's the list we use and recommend at klsbetting. Bet365, Betterbet, Stan James, Betdirect, Betfair. Ladbrokes, Victor Chandler, Pinnacle Sports, Party Bets and Canbet.
Betfair also do Asian Handicaps but when the commission rate went up from 1% to 5%, its actually best to bet at the bookies. Assuming a 100% book value on betfair, each paying evens, after commission, the payout is 1.95. Compare this to Canbet et al which have odds of 1.97 each side!
Asian Bookies can bet put into two main categories, ones offering serious odds and others that offer better odds than 1X2 odds but don't offer much value.
I put Pinnacle Sports, Canbet and Bet365 in the first category. As margins are thin, odds will move depending on the trading. As these put out odds very early, its an art predicting what the odds will be at kick off.
The other bookies that offer Asian Handicaps, don't change their odds as much. As they book to a higher margin they have more slack to play with. Its handy having accounts with them as sometimes when the market moves, these are slower to change their odds.
